About IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card practice

In Part 2, the long turn, you receive a cue card describing a person, place, object, or experience. You have one minute to prepare and then speak for up to two minutes. This mode gives you a random cue card with a preparation timer and a notes area. Write only keywords, cover every point on the card, and keep speaking until the examiner stops you.

How the practice works

Choose whether to record before you begin. If you record, audio stays in your browser and is never uploaded. After each answer you can play back your recording and choose one focus for the next question, such as fewer pauses or more developed ideas. SpeakingIELTS does not predict band scores; use the self-evaluation checklist to review your answers, browse all IELTS Speaking topics and questions, or read about the free IELTS mock test.
