If you are a student, the examiner will ask about your studies instead of work. Talk about your subject in plain language, as if to someone outside your field, and give real reasons for your choices.

Sample answers
What subject are you studying?
I'm in my second year of a degree in environmental science at a university in my home city. Basically, it combines biology, chemistry and geography to look at problems like pollution and climate change.
Why did you choose this subject?
I chose it mainly because I grew up near a river that became badly polluted, and I wanted to understand why that happens and what can be done about it. My parents hoped I'd study medicine, but I'm glad I followed my own interests.
