Weather questions

  1. What kind of weather do you like the most?
  2. Does the weather affect the way that you feel?
  3. Do people like the weather in your country?
  4. Do the kinds of outside activities people do in your country change when the weather changes?

Sample answers

What kind of weather do you like the most?

I like mild, sunny weather the most, the kind you get in spring, when it's warm enough to sit outside but not uncomfortably hot. I'm not a fan of extreme heat; anything above thirty-five degrees makes me lazy.

Does the weather affect the way that you feel?

Definitely. When it's grey and rainy for several days in a row, I feel less energetic and find it harder to concentrate. On bright mornings, though, I'm much more motivated and more likely to walk to work.

Useful words and phrases

  • mild and sunny
  • unbearably hot
  • grey and drizzly
  • a heatwave
  • it puts me in a good mood
  • several days in a row

Common mistakes

  • Using "hot" and "cold" for everything. Try "humid", "freezing" or "chilly".
  • Talking about climate statistics instead of feelings and habits.
  • Confusing "weather" with "whether" in pronunciation is fine, but avoid "the weather is very fun"; weather is pleasant, not fun.
